Scale and Art with Mr. Buchholz
By J. Brooks and A. Mancuso
We sat down with Mr. Buchholz, our art teacher and asked him some tough questions:
1. What is scale,? A scale is a way to take big things and make them smaller, or smaller things and make them bigger.
2. How do artists use scale? Well, the goal of a lot of art is to be accurate. To make sure that your person is not half the size of a pyramid!
3. Why do you think scale is important? Ummm, because we have all see pictures by Kinderg and their heads are always too big. If it's abstract art, Like Piccaso, than it's different. You don't have to care about size so much.
4. Do you really use scale in everyday life? Sure I do! An example would be soccer team practice when I sketch out directions to show players where they should be on the field.
5 Can you draw us an example?
